PRODUCTION
MES: Materials Management
MATERIALS MANAGEMENT MODULE
Manages and automates the movement of goods in all their phases
The MES system for production, which integrates the Materials Management module, offers complete functionalities for automatic identification of materials needed in production processes (raw materials, semi-finished products, finished products) and tracks their entire movement:
- From the warehouse to the production unit
- During production processes
- From the production unit to the warehouse
Equipped with an advanced Kanban function, MES monitors material consumption in real time and automatically generates tasks and transfer orders, which are processed by operators.
MODULE FUNCTIONALITIES
Eliminate waste and quickly plan material requirements
The Materials Management module’s functionalities ensure a constant and optimal flow of materials to production lines, preventing unplanned shutdowns and minimizing efficiency losses.

WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT
Defining the warehouse structure and accessing data in real time
The MES solution for production, operations and materials management provides you with detailed information, updated in real time, regarding the stocks in the warehouse (product, description, handling unit number, initial quantity vs. remaining quantity, etc.).
The hierarchical structure of the warehouses within the MES software solution is as follows:
Warehouses
Locations
Handling units
Lots
Optimized workflows
Receiving and shipping goods
The materials management module includes specific workflows for receiving and shipping materials. These can be used when the ERP system in the organization does not support such functionalities.
- Checks the compliance of materials upon receipt, based on purchase orders
- Performs quality tests, if necessary
- Automatically generates handling units
- Displays the list of handling units to collect, based on sales and shipping orders
- Updates the stock available in the warehouse in real time
- Transmits shipping data to ERP
EXAMPLES OF WORKFLOWS
Main activities covered by the materials management module of the MES solution
The materials management module ensures complete control over the flow of materials, contributing significantly to the efficiency and success of production operations.
- GOODS RECEPTION
- PURCHASE ORDERS
- MATERIAL TRANSFER
- MATERIALS REPLICATION
- REAL-TIME INVENTORY ANALYSIS

Goods reception and compliance assurance
Upon arrival of materials, based on purchase orders, the MES system:- Checks for non-conformities against the purchase order
- Materials are assigned to a specific location in the warehouse
- All transactions are immediately recorded in the system

Purchase order management
The MES software system ensures complete and accurate tracking of materials from receipt to storage, and the list of incoming goods indicates:- Handling unit identification number
- Operator identification number that performed the task
- Quantity tracked for each good
- Final location of each good in the warehouse

Material transfer and record monitoring
Material transfers can be executed in the system without the need to generate a transfer order:- The warehouse worker executes the operation from his workstation
- Each transaction is immediately recorded and monitored in the system
- Recorded data includes information about: who performed the task, the handling unit identification number, location, processing times and the reason for the transfer

Materials replenishment and transfer between locations
The system ensures flexible replenishment, with clear monitoring of all associated transfers:- Replenishments can be performed manually or automatically
- Transfer orders are associated with replenishments
- Replenishment can include one or more transfer orders
- Warehouse workers perform transfers between locations
- Users can easily and accurately track all material movements, from entry to exit from the warehouse

Real-time material inventory analysis
MES allows real-time visualization of material inventory, the information displayed taking into account the actual consumption of materials and the progress in the production line:- Displays the exact locations where materials are stored
- Includes the identification number of each location
- Provides details about the product and handling units
- Monitors material outputs in real time
- Shows the current level of remaining stock
